Default Should have thought about that......

On Wednesday I was honing a wedge, it took a lot of work and testing to see where I was with it. I ran out of hair on my left forearm, so I moved to checking it against my left shin.

In the end I got it sharp enough that hairs were jumping out of the way of the razor, but I now have a mostly shaved left shin but a hairy calf and right leg.

Well I've been back doing martial arts after a 3.5 month lay off due to a hamstring tear. Tonight's class was kick boxing and one that rather than a "suit" I wear MMA shorts, suffice it to say I put on my shorts took one look at my leg and thought "freak show" I did change but its a heavy duty class and a real sweat session was made hotter by wearing thick cotton martial arts trousers.

Haha that's funny. I noticed the hairs on my left wrist getting a bit thin when I was checking edges for "hair popping", but never to that extreme.

Yes, this is a real problem. Do you think there is much difference between human and dog hair? I'm thinking about shaving test patches on Rover.

that'd be great. I suggested as much to my wife, she said just keep shaving myself and leave the poor boxer alone...after that the dog whispered "psst", and nodded towards the cat!

A frequent disease around these parts called "Hone Mange" very similar to normal mange but seems to only effect one side of the body, normally outbreaks occur on the forearm first, then the disease moves to the calf of the leg, once to has eliminated the hair on the arm... Al;though no mites have been found that cause this form of the disease, there is a theory that they might be living in the scales of straight razors
Often the outbreak subsides or at least diminishes greatly after a year or so...

It must be very contagious, as I just watched Maxi hone my razor and I have some on my forearm. What's going to happen when I start honing my own?

The leg's a bit stubbly now. I guess that means I can do some more honing soon

At any of the razor meets you will notice that most of the guys there have at least one arm with no hair on it.
