I only use straights on the road and at home. Out of curiousity though, where did you get the information of what the TSA does and does not consider a safety razor blade?

Let's just call it the working practical definition, based on the fifty or so responses I've read on similar threads in a variety of wetshaving forums. At least half those who try to bring blades through-- even blades in a DE razor-- lose them.

I know people who get clearly permissable items, specifically listed as such, confiscated, such as fishing gear. Don't get me started on TSA policy. There's little consistency between agents and sites, and IMO, little safety offered by current standards, incompetence all over the place (for example, last week's nabbing of a gun, but failure to figure out who was carrying it!!!)-- all in all, a tremendously ill-reasoned overresponse to situations that can be almost entirely avoided by keeping the cockpit doors locked when a terrorist knocks.

One cleaning error and the cabin depressurizes. Rembember that you have a CONSTITUTIONAL right to have a gun so king George doesn't invade. That means that the dumbest f*** in the world can own one. Now let's put us in a hypothetical situation where a bunch of terrorists tries to hijack the plane and this time there are no really dumb f***s on board. So a few guys with guns start shooting the terrorists. It only takes one bullet through the window and it's bye-bye aircraft. I'd rather take my chances and stab a hijacker or two with a pen.

Actually a few bullet holes would not be a huge problem for the plane. It would not be good, but by no means would a catastrophic failure result. I have been told that by several people including a life long pilot. FWIW

I've been told the same thing by a former Air Force pilot who was picked up on 9/11. He was flying commercial, and when he set his plane down, there were escorts waiting on him. His job after that day was to fly the plane that carried the President's helicopter. Him, I believe.

Don't know if I am following you correctly, did he make a comment about bullet holes as in he was thinking of going postal?
