The Shavette is more comfortable to use, in terms of weight and handling than a regular folded metal cheap shavette. They shave as good as the blade inside, but the feel of the Shavette is more like straight razor. And the changing of the blades is safer, too...

Thanked: 1i have a dovo shavette and a fromm shaper/shavette that i carry when i travel. i would recommend the dovo well over the fromm. i use the long style blades in mine. the only drawback to the dovo shavette is that it will only accept fromm blades, whereas i can use either fromm or feather blades in my fromm razor. with the fromm, the spine of the razor slides into a carrier. not only is it super light and more pressure-prone, but it also feels flimsier (not good qualities to be anywhere near my neck!)
people say that the stainless dovo shavette is weightier than the tortoise one. if i was in the market, i'd definitely go with the stainless dovo shavette. any extra weight will be a big advantage. for me, i feel a lot safer going over my adam's apple with a heavier blade.

The shavette, even in all stainless, is an awfully light and cheap feeling instrument. Has anybody here used the Monsieur Charles razor? How does it compare?
