don't you hate it when this happens
I just spent just about the whole day honing up my razors and my son asks me to open a coconut we bought for him at the grocer and I go and instead of opening up the coconut I open up my hand. And no I didn't use a straight to open the coconut.

Here's a tip for you for the next coconut: The coconut has those little eyes, and mouth shaped dimples at one side. There are lines going from them to the other end. Take a machete, or something similar, like hatchet, or smaller axe, and hit the coconut perpendicular at the line going from the "mouth" of the nut. It shoud split in two haves nicely...

The liquid gotten from the inside of a coconut is unfortunately pretty much just H2O and isn't really coconut milk. Culinary coconut milk is gotten by processing the meat of the coconut, not just drilling or cracking and draining. If your hard up for H2O, then at least you know where to find some, but if you want coconut milk, you gotta learn how to make it.
