If the problem was mine, I would say to myself:
Enough with honing! Practice the razor with daily shave for at least one month.

Thanked: 58Well....I've adjusted my angle and have found two passes sufficient to remove all stubble. I believe, as most often is the case for newbies, that my lack of technique was partially to blame while the difference could be assessed to fairy tale expectations. With a proper pre-shave, I have found a nice balance. However, in comparing it to the other blade I received, it seems less sharp; but, I'm starting to feel the pressure of not committing sacriledge about questioning the honing gods. I just really felt an 8/8ths W&Butcher celebrated hollow ground For Barbers Use should be like a hot knife through butter.

Thanked: 13245it is very hard to compare different razors...
But I can tell you from a wee bit of honing experience that a 5/8 Dovo will not feel the same as an 8/8 W&B and it very well might not be quite as sharp and perhaps even not capable of attaining the same sharpness
It has to be as sharp and as smooth as each edge has the capability of becoming ie: "Shave ready" that doesn't mean all "Shave ready" edges are equal...and even more importantly equal to only your face
