But I can tell you from a wee bit of honing experience that a 5/8 Dovo will not feel the same as an 8/8 W&B and it very well might not be quite as sharp and perhaps even not capable of attaining the same sharpness

It has to be as sharp and as smooth as each edge has the capability of becoming ie: "Shave ready" that doesn't mean all "Shave ready" edges are equal...and even more importantly equal to only your face
