Thanked: 2209Picture beware!
I thought I would take some pics and show the new guys that
pictures can really lie! Most of the pics make the blade look really good but two of the pics show the reality.
I am still trying to take a very honest pic of this razor. There are just two in the set so far showing the minor pitting and grind lines.

Randy,
Could you describe each pic? I think it would be a good lesson for the newbies who are trying to find razors on ebay (like me lol). I'm amazed that the finish even looks different!

Thanked: 2209Essentially it is the angle of reflection of the light that I changed. Some people strive for a image with no shadows and no obvious reflection. This is regarded as a very good pic by some pro's, such as in knife photography. But they never have to deal with the issue of pitting. This gives a very clean look but hides any flaws such as minor pitting and the grinding lines. My major point is that you can be fooled by pics even if the person taking them is not trying to hide anything. I recently won a C-Mon Cadillac that looked really good in the pics but when it arrived it had all kinds of small pitting and some rust.
So...don't be to surprised if that happens to you.
Look for multiple pics taken from different angles, that should help reduce the risk and if possible get some closeups.Last edited by randydance062449; 10-11-2006 at 11:02 AM.

One of my favourite and most true quotes:
“Whether it be a painting or photograph, the picture is a symbol that brings one immediately into close touch with reality. In fact, it is often more effective than the reality would have been, because, in the picture, the non-essential and conflicting interests have been eliminated.
The average person believes implicitly that the photograph cannot falsify. Of course, you and I know that this unbounded faith in the integrity of the photograph is often rudely shaken, for, while photographs may not lie, liars may photograph.”

nice post there randy
well i guess i didnt really think about the pictures in that great a detail, which says a couple of things about me..
1. I am stupid not to think that the poor pic might be hiding something
2. More money thaan sense to bid on something that might prove to be more hassle than its worth.
Good advice randy, same to you toxic
cheers simon
