Not looking for trouble
I was looking at the "straightedgerazors" forum and noticed that many of the members are the same.
Stupid question, is there some kind of rift? Why are there two forums?
If this is too sensitive, just tell me to shut up.

A lot of guys like to post in more than one place. I don't believe there's a rift at all. Different sites tend to have a different focus. Badger & Blade & Shavemyface, for example, tend toward more of the DE users, I think. This is about the only one I post on because it has the best people, the widest range of information about the section of wetshaving I'm most interested in, and because I just don't have the time to waste on inferior sites.

i wouldn't think there is a rift. alot of the members are members of both.
Lynn Abrams runs this site SRP
Robert Williams runs SER .. robert williams posts alot here at SRP also under the name "papabull"
i'd think it was more that he loves straight razors enough to put up another site, perhaps he can showcase his razors more freely there, market how he would like, ad revenue how he would like. basically run it his way. hellp perhaps he was bored enough to wanna try his hand at making webpages.
i dont think there is a rift, i have never seen any animosity. everyone here gets along quite well and are extremely helpful and gracious no matter what site they are posting on.

infact, lets take this moment to thank both lynn abrams and robert williams for their help in providing forums for all of us to learn, chat, and experience straight shaving better and better each day. hats off to both of them.

Thanked: 4942No not a problem at all. We got Straightrazorplace forums up and running and Robert, owner of Straightedgerazors, wanted a classified section over here. We decided to let our members choose and in the mean time Straightedgerazors magically appeared in a very similar format to SRP......lol. Straightrazorplace was imitated on both the yahoo site and in the forum world which is a nice compliment. Our position is to enjoy straightrazors and shaving, help people learn and pass on knowledge in addition to providing resources including vendor information. That's the bottom line. Many of our members participate in other forums and we have great relationships with forums like Shavemyface.com.
There is no value in rifts and yep, we've been though a few. We are a small population, but a growing one. SRP started it all and that is undeniable. We have always been the premier resource for straight razor information thanks to the knowledge and generousity of our members. It has been a really nice journey to see it grow from nothing to where our members now have many alternatives.
Thanks for the interest and as always, Have fun.

If that's the one I'm thinking of, I joined up to get a piece of info I couldn't get here, but I had issues with site functionality so I'm letting my membership expire. I do post on SMF, but not nearly as much as I do here. This place contains a great amount of relevant info and more importantly a bunch of amazing people so I don't have an overriding need to go elsewhere.

I belong to many of the forums but do most of my posting here. This place just feels like family..........just ask any newbie how he is welcomed. You will find many of the other places like Shave My face and B&B will quickly refer a member here as soon as e has a straight razor question just as we will refer those with DE questions there if it goes beyond the basic, common knowledge.
For straight razors users....well, look at the other groups as your extended family, great places to visit but there's no place like home.
And never forget who has your back............we do!

Tony, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but in most cases we're the ones who refer SMF people here
