Thanked: 369Illinois Razor Strop / Fromm International Follow-up
To the group:
I just recieved a call from Mr. Ed Simon of Fromm International. He was returning my call inviting him to join this group. As you might remember, I talked with him a couple of weeks ago regarding razor strops. I believe it was his father (maybe grandfather) who founded the Illinois Razor Strop Company in 1907.
He asked me what SRP wanted. A video, written pamphlet, etc. He had been discussing this with his marketing group.
Boy, I was a bit on the spot. I knew I was making a decision for the group, a big decision. I couldn't stop to ask you guys so I hope I made the right choice. I wanted to say all of the above of course, but I conscientiously restrained myself.
I told Ed what I thought the group would really like was for him to join and participate. To be available for discussion and to answer questions, especially for the noobies.
He agreed to join. He said he's still not quite himself following bypass surgery several weeks ago, but he said he's getting there. He just asked that we be a little patient with him. I wished him well and expressed my great appreciation for his return call, and agreeing to join.
Anyway, be on the lookout for Ed Simon sometime soon. When he arrives, let's give him a warm welcome. I really look forward to his participation and the resulting discussions.
I hope I did the right thing.

Personally, I would have been satisfied if he had agreed to slaughter ten horses on behalf of the group. But joining -- yeah, that's good, too.

Thanked: 2209There are two questions that Mr. Simon can answer for us.
1. Does the leather strop have an abrasive in it that actually sharpens a piece of steel. If so, what abrasive specifically, and does that abrasive come from the process of tanning or occur naturally.
2. What is the function and advantage of the linen strop.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin
