Thanked: 67Yes, I tell people if there seems to be a natural way to work it into the conversation. It's fits in with a philosophy I like, where you take a bit more trouble to learn skills yourself and become more self-reliant. The opposite of a skills-less consumer, where the commercial products available are bad compromises - you get a second class product, in order to make things easier/more profitable for the manufacturer/retailer.
Mind you, I haven't told my mum yet, she's not going to like it. I'm planning to wait until I can say "oh, yeah, I've been doing it 6 months, now I've learned I hardly ever cut myself..."

Everyone in my life, be it professionally or private, are basically sick and tired of hearing about straights by now
As to how many I've converted, I'm sorry to have to report very poor results...
They all seem to bring their kitchen/utility/work-knifes for sharpening thoughBjoernar
