I ended up here because of a thread on a local gun forum. Somebody went off topic and mentioned shaving with safety razor. It took me a little while to figure out what they were talking about. They said it was much better than the cartridge junk. So I decided to give it a try.

I didn't shave very often because the Fusion razors didn't like me. They dulled quickly for how expensive they are and liked to give me razor burn at every chance they got. Plus the canned gel depleted me of every particle of moisture I could muster, even though it was a moisturizing type.

I watched some YouTube videos and cruised the net looking for something that I would like to use. I decided on the Parker 90R butterfly. I also snagged some TOBS shaving cream. Holy crap. That stuff is so much better than the canned gel. Now I can't go back. The cartridge razors don't even compare. Also with the tiny cost of blade replacement, it is a hands down win for the DE.

Maybe someday I'll try a straight, but they still scare me. I watched a video of a guy doing the "fool's pass" and it made me nervous. Lol.

You aren't alone. I took my Genco to work and showed the HHT to a few people. One guy (the one I got the hair from) shuddered when he saw it and said, "I don't even want to own anything that sharp!"

    When I played college ball I was 6'3" 310Lbs
It started freshman year durring football camp. I showed up 70lbs too light and was the strongest kid on the team, with a piss poor attitude. My buddies kept saying how hairy I was and that I needed a shave and hair cut. They also commented that I was attitudinally challenge and Sassy. Sassy+Hairy eventually lead to Sasquatch...albeit I was about a foot too short for the title, but in their words I was a "big angry hayseed" and it pissed me off everytime they called me it. It stuck of course....

Luckily all my facial hair came in thank God, but if I ever have a son I will pass on the tip!!
