Default Met a nice guy at Delano Antique Mall ( Wichita ) yesterday.

I'm always amazed at how great it is to meet someone else who enjoys the hobby. It happens from time to time, and is often fun to chat with people, and always a pleasure to expand my circle of locals interested in the hobby.
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to meet a fellow hobbyist and his wife while out antiquing. Unfortunately, I was a bit thrown by the coming local tornado deluge and the prospect of having to help a friend move back to town that evening, so I was... less than totally with it. I think I even came off as a complete whack job. I didn't even manage to get his phone number or any contact information... Absolutely awful of me!
At any rate, I enjoyed meeting you, and hope you will PM me.

Good lord, that was my first post here? I guess I've been lurking longer than I thought!

I know the feeling. I was digging through a showcase at a local antique store last week and met a guy hunting for DE razors. He apparently frequents B&B rather than this site but I got his business card anyway. Made me think how hard learning about this hobby would be without this forum and all of the wonderfully helpful people here.

I'm visible on B&B much more (obviously) as I tend to use Safety Razors more, but I have learned quite a lot from SRP. I know I'm very fortunate for having both sites around, as I'd still be fumbling with locally available junk and would still be totally in the dark about proper stropping and honing techniques.

I've met a couple people who are after razors (straights and DE) at the ame time I was at places. though, of all that I have met, only one used them........the rest bought to collect only and used multiblades.....

entertaining watching them grab razors that I pass right over, generally ones with the blades pretty rusty.

Either way though, the one that I talked with for a little bit that did shave was a pleasant conversation, though the shop we were at ended up not having anything
