Thanked: 0Straight razors in the movie "Drive"
Hi everybody! This is Kamin, I'm new in this forum. To complete an essay I was looking for some information about the straight razors that appear in the movie "Drive" -collected by one of its characters- and suddenly found this place where you guys seem to be "straight razors connoisseurs" I was wondering if you could please help me identifying the type of razors that appear in the box (image below). Thanks so much for your help! Any hint (type of razor, name, etc) would be highly appreciated:

Only one straight razor there and it's a Double Duck 'Goldedge'. Use the search function at the top right of the page and you will find a wealth of information on that particular razor.

I'm afraid I haven't seen the movie.
That said, there seems to be only one straight razor in that picture.
The second from the top looks to be a pretty standard round point 5/8"ish Solingen straight razor, or similar.
The others are knives, made for other things than providing good shaves
Your image is rather blurry, so I am not able to tell you any more about the one razor in that lot.

It may be a dubl duck goldedge but it is missing the goldwash on the tang and there is no "goldedge" inlay above the bolsters. Perhaps they removed these things but it could also be another razors manufacturer.
As a side note... are you doing an essay on the movie drive or on straight razors? If the former I feel bad for you, because that movie was terrible and I would have trouble writing anything but criticism. If the latter, I believe we have a thread in here somewhere dedicated to straight razor sightings in movies.

Considering the only time you saw that straight "used" was to shake a guy's hand and slit his wrist from elbow to hand...I'm *hoping* that scene didn't inspire you to get into straights...
It freaked my SWMBO out so much I now have to keep my straights out of view. :/

Thanked: 41The only thing in "Drive" worth writing about or studying is Amber Heard. http://m.imdb.com/name/nm1720028/
Wow! The only reason I watched it. And if you are fans of Top Gear (the real one, not that crappy US version), her segment in The Reasonable Priced Car and interview with Clarkson is pretty good.Last edited by SixNipples; 05-04-2012 at 03:46 AM.
