Thanked: 0Teenagers?
Hello. I'm a teenager and I was curious as to whether there were other teens that are interested in straight shaving. It's an amazing experience that teenagers don't get a chance to experience today with the availability and convenience of multibladed razor shaving now used by their parents and grandparents in place of the old ways of shaving. But I do think that teenagers should experience it one way or another whether it's their own hand or getting shaved by a barber. For me, the first straight shave was in Florida at a Hispanic run barber shop that trimmed my beard with a shavette. So if there are any teens out there tell me how you got into straight shaving.

For me it started with a bowl of D.R Harris soap, that got me interested in De razors and not long after I bought a De I bought my first straight.
I've been using straights for more than a year now and I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent on razors, soaps etc so far.

Thanked: 4When I first started shaving, I tried "cratridge/disposable razors"[1] a few times (less than 20 times) before I found my grandfather's Gillette DE razor. I was curious on how it shaves so I tried it and found it to be better than what I had experienced before. Then I went and bought myself a shavette and used that for 6 years up until a month or so when my shavette broke. I was curious on how a straight razor would perform so I bought my first knowing that I will always shave with it because I thought to myself that the worst case scenario would be that it shaves just like a shavette. I guess I was wrong, it shaves better in my opinion. I never liked new age razors and I wouldn't use one.
NB: It was brought to my attention that "new age" is a spiritual movement and it wasn't intended as that so I changed the nomenclature.
