The silent shave......
I think I am doing ok with Honing and stroping, my razors shave well, I rarely cut myself... all fine and dandy....
But most of the time I can "hear" the shave... hear the blade scraping the cheek, cutting the hair.... I hear (maybe in my mind) the terrified screams of the individual itty bitty hairs as they see the reaper coming for them......
But I do have one razor... a hollow ground 7andabit/8 Gebr. Christians that is almost silent.
It glides, cuts, sveres... and as much as I listen... it does not make a sound... the stubble are gone before they even hear it coming...
it is probably more humane that way....
Does anyone else have a silent razor?Last edited by Chribo; 08-11-2012 at 05:26 PM.

Thanked: 247I would suggest the amount of hollow has a lot to do with it. My extra hollow blades sound like velcro being torn apart but my 1/4 hollow is much quieter.

It's like driving a small sports car where you feel every pavement crack as opposed to being in a big truck where you just bounce along. The architecture of the blade in a hollow causes the noise. The wedge types damp any real feedback.

I’ve found that the more hollow the grind and the larger the blade the more feedback/face/hand and ears receive. My near full wedge W&B is silent as a mouse; it just plows through doing its job! I always look forward to using it just for something different.
