I tried one of the shaving towels from Classic, and I just wasn't impressed. I felt it was too thin for the application I wanted to use it for, which was steaming. I bought an assortment of Egyptian cotton hand towels, which were over-sized and very thick, and they work fine. One of the advantage of barber towels is they leave no lint behind on your face. I figure if you shave properly, there won't be any reason for lint to be left behind regardless of which towel you use.

I got a pack of some white towels from Wal-Mart but I might try some of those from Bowman beauty for the heck of it.

Just a quick note on the lint -- if you have a mustache or a beard which you shape/trim with your straight, the lint may be more of an issue. For a clean-shaven man, I agree with your statement.
