Thanked: 0Do you know a vender in...
Gentlemen
I was trying to locate a vendor of straight razor and shaving related product in Montreal, PQ, by the way is there anybody from Montreal, please raise your hand. There is Vasco on Saint-Catherine street, they have a very nice place, I visit them lately, it is a beautiful store whit a lot of stuff, they had many different straight razors and DE to show and a very large collection of brush but man they are expensive, their mark-up is unbelievable, those people will abuse you with a smile and before you leave the place they are expecting that you get down on your knees and kiss them if you see what I mean. Anyhow if you know another place in the area or a recommendation just let me know
thanks an have great day

Thanked: 0Heya Norm,
From what I've found so far, Vasco had the most extensive selection. I don't find the mark-up on creams and soaps too unreasonable, but I hear ya on the hardware.
The Centre du Rasoir shops carry a fair amount of classic shaving supplies, too, but not all outlets offer the same selection. I've been to one offering about 50 different razors and brushes and another with three brushes and a Merkur Futur. Another place that might have some straights is Mosel. I recall they used to offer some, but haven't been by there in years. Hope that helps a bit...

Thanked: 0I went through Montreal about two months ago. In the underground shopping area there is a C&E and a razor store. The razor store is to the right as you exit C&E and will be on the left. I noticed that the C&E prices seemed high. I think that the $35 (US) badger brush was something like $53 Canadian.

Thanked: 0Gentlemen,
thanks for the reply, just near my place I have C&E and the Centre du Rasoir, they are not my favorite place. Vasco is a very nice place ut they are really expensive, My point of reference was a Merkur Vision DE, they were asking $400 cnd plus tax while the regular price on the net is around $100 usd. Their price for shaving product such as cream and soap I beleive was OK but I will stay with my regular vender on the net. I was not aware of the razor store near C&E but I will check it
thanks for the feedback and have a great day

Thanked: 0Norm,
That razor shop may have been a Centre du Rasoir. I remember asking my wife if I was translating correctly.

The SMF would be a better idea lol. Actually it's just one retailer preying on the customers' ignorance. I know that one of my buddies found a place in Toronto with prices comparable to CS.
Even though a few of us here use DEs, it's very rare and in most cases we don't do it very often. Therefore, I could say "You're barking up the wrong tree, buddy"

Thanked: 0Don’t take me wrong, I am interested in straight not in DE, I don’t even use them any more, I just loose the interest. This vender Vasco has different DE, a very good selection of straight razor in stock and a large selection of shaving brush as well plus different shaving product, I visit them to see there selection of straight and found that there are out of price, I took the example of the Vision to show how some venders can take advantage of the ignorance of people to abuse.
Regards
Norm.
