Thanked: 1Shave a friend
Just thought I'd try and start an interesting discussion as I'm bored thought some people's stories may entertain me.
So have you ever given your mates a shave just wondering if its easier to shave someone else or a totally different experience in terms of technique. Did you have any bad experiences or mishaps? Or do they keep coming back for more?

Thanked: 375I started to shave my Wifes legs with a straight, and stopped for fear of cutting her. I switched to a DE and finished the job. She commented on how much smoother her legs were and started using a DE her self, although the amount of time it takes seems to be an issue for her. She's never asked me to shave her legs again...no mishaps, I used the same technique I use for my face, and it is easier to do for someone else, because if they get cut you don't feel a thing.

I shaved my father last summer, it was a little trickier than shaving myself and I didn't dare to do a fools pass but overall he got a pretty decent shave.

i've actually shaved a few of my buddies trying to convert them over, and they thought it was a pretty good shave! plus, i didn't nick them at all.

Shave a friend
I've been asked to but I don't think I ever would - one flinch from the recipient and a friendship could be well and truly severed!

Thanked: 983Shaved my best mate once. Scared the hell out of me doing it too. But I converted him that day. I'm still waiting to get that razor of mine back off him.
It's a damn sight easier shaving yourself as you can feel exactly what your doing, and how much pressure you're not
applying.

The biggest problem the way I see it is trying to maneuver yourself and the ergonomics to get it done. Barbers have chairs that adjust every which way.

Thanked: 1I suppose when you shave you mainly work on feel especially when it comes to a stubbon bead or irritable skin but working on someone else who may have different types of skin and whiskers could be totally different to what your used to whebs having yourself, I guess a good barber must be able to judge what would be the best way to approach each customer.

Thanked: 1185I've shaved a couple people successfully although I got to admit, it was a bit nerve racking. It is indeed a whole different ball game without being able to feel, critique and adjust accordingly. Shaving myself I can feel how much pressure is being applied, if my angle is right, etc. not so much when shaving someone else. If I happen to nick myself, it's not really a big deal but if I cut someone else (you know people are generally pretty freaked out about a straight anyway) that's a different animal all together.
If someone asks, I'm willing and able but shaving myself is far more comfortable. The older I get, the better I was
