Burlington, VT razor collection - unreal!
Visiting friends in Burlington VT. THis morning they say, "Let's go to the Shelburne Museum. They've got all kinds of old buildings on the grounds - including an old paddle wheeled steamship from Lake Champlain that are full of history and art exhibits. We hear it's very cool.' And it was. best of all though: A 600+ piece straight collection that belonged to - of all people -Judge Henry Lummus. It was a. Ery nice surprise indeed. just wish I had thought of pulling out my iPhone and snapping some pics...
If your ever in Burlington VT, the museum is well worth aday's visit. The razors are just the cherry on top.

Any manufacturers off the top of your head?
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Looks like I have another reason to visit Burlington, VT besides my friend and Ben & Jerry's.
You can take the boy out of NY, but you can't take NY out of the boy.

Mostly the Sheffield makers - W&B, Jos. Rogers, Greaves, etc. - and quite a few of them 8/8 or bigger. Also some of the Swedish makers. Of the two dozen or so tangs I read, none were U.S. brands (doesn't mean there weren't any in there, I just didn't see any). Our flight out was early this evening and we came across the razors just half-way through our self-guided tour so I was only able to linger and drool for about 10 minutes...

I went to the museum in May of 2015. The whole place is fantastic but the straight razor collection was truly amazing. I took lots of pictures.
I'll post more... they are fun to look at.
