    Default Just wanted to post

Hey Guys, it's been a while since I've had time to log in and post something. I've actually had quite a bit to post, but no time. It's been bothering me so I decided to just throw this out there, maybe helping to break the pattern.

I took pictures of my shave den! I want to share them but have not been successful in the uploading of an image to this forum. I searched and find no limits to file size or resolution or dimensions, so I don't know what my problem is. I was trying it on the Sunday that the site down and back up. I could browse to and upload a file, but it said something like invalid and gave no explanation why. I really want to post pictures.

I have a bamboo shave stand project I'm trying out. I actually need some help and will want to post pictures of my parts to ask for advice on how to assemble them. Well, I won't be able to do that until I figure out how to post pictures. I also want to get a brush with a bamboo handle, but can't find one and am looking to maybe get crafty. Also looking for the dovo bamboo scales to put on instead of my ebony. We'll see.

I took a great photo of my own 'Shave of the Day' and was very excited. I would have posted it, but again, the image is an issue for me.

I've found little tiny black specs developing on my blade and I'm dissappointed. I searched here and see it's typical, but wonder if mine could be removed and prevented.

I found a great pharmacy in Carmel with lots of shaving soaps, brushes and aftershaves. I bought a tube of Tabac cream and I like it. The scent makes me think of baby powder on steroids. It's fun to have more variety in soaps and creams.

I have a co-worker who uses an SE safety razor and brush. I told him about my new straight experiences and he was mildly interested. I showed him my photos of my shave den and he got much more intrigued, thought it looked very nice and fun. So, we decided to go antiquing (don't like that word), hmmm, HUNTING for a used SR for him. Well, he was in L.A. and I was up here and we went separately. I found a neat thing called a Rolls-Razor and an overpriced, beat up Boker that I left behind. He scored a rather nice looking Frederick Reynolds Sheffield for $20 and needs to clean it up, get it sharpened and start using it. I'm just a beginner, but have already coaxed someone towards the dark side. Yay!

On that note, my shaves are getting better, closer and faster. My stropping and lathering are really improving. I think I dulled my blade a bit early on with poor technique, so I'll be looking for another razor to use while I send mine off for a sharpening. Shaving is very fun for me, though still rather time consuming.

Whew, I feel better. That's a lot to get off my chest. Have a great day guys!

PS - Happy Halloween. This year I am a Ninja-neer. Basically a Hollywood style, all black ninja with T-Sqaure on my back instead of a katana, a pair of nunchucks made out of drafting scales, and some throwing darts up the sleeve made out of mechanical pencils.
