    Default Xmas Goodies!!

I know it's been a while since I was active around here but other things have monopolized my attentions as of late. Specifically my computer hobbies and my work have kept me from being particularly active but I have kept up my interest in the art of shaving. Anyhow, this year for Xmas I got to open some pretty nifty goodies...

My sister and brother-in-law got me a nifty fog free shaving mirror and a new soap bowl with lid along with a cake of FANTASTIC menthol soap from ClassicShaving. Then from my wife I got a very nice Vulfix Super Badger brush and brush stand! And if that wasn't cool enough my parents found an old 1920s (purported to be 1920s anyhow) Prior 4/8 round point razor at an antique shop in Fredericksburg. Next I just need to buy myself a strop and a better hone and I'll be fully set up for this stuff.

I do find it kinda funny that I got this stuff though, considering my wife treated the whole straight razor thing like a passing fancy when I started. She wouldn't let me buy a new razor so I started with a $35 eBay special, I stropped on an old piece of canvas (still do) and used a junker boar bristle brush with matching bowl from Walgreens (the bowl wasn't bad and I'm keeping it) but I guess after all this time (closing in on two years I think?) she has realized I wasn't playing around...anyone who will stand by a new interest through crappy equipment like I started with HAS to be serious. Now she's even going to let me buy a REAL strop and a Norton's stone...the new razor will probably still have to wait as they are pricey

Anyhow I'm a happy camper, what did you guys get this year?

Great news! I prefer getting older pieces to new ones, so I don't mind it as long as I can restore the oldies. Ofcourse, if you don't already own a Dremel, think of a household project that may require the use of it.
