Thanked: 0A month now.
I have been straight shaving for a month now. Things are going well, thanks in part to the info here on SRP. I"ve noticed that once WTG, and once XTG works best for me. Against the grain just dosen't work for me. Any one else find this to be true? Stropping is going good as well. Thank you all.

Glad to hear the shaving is going good for you.
when you say the ATG does not work do you mean that you are having difficulty with it or that you have decided that you do not need it?
stretching and blade angle can be difficult to get proper on the ATG pass also sometimes lather in the bowl will have dried a little and might need a bit of water to make it ready for the final pass.
some days though, 2 passes are all that is really needed but that is really between you and SWMBO.
jimBe just and fear not.

Thanked: 0Thanks for your reply. Ive been busy with work and the weather, sorry for the delay. When I go against the grain, the pulling is unbareable. Going across the grain seems to acomplish the same level of smoothness. I have one of those beards that goes every which way. no mater the angle or lather, across the grain hurts.

Thanked: 7I can shave with and accross the grain, no problem. But against the grain? No way. Too much pull. But I have a shave twice a day, wire beard to deal with.
I find that getting the closest possible shave isnt the goal for me. Stropping my razor, preping my face and mixing the lather while getting a decesnt shave (as good as with my old twin disposibles) with a straight razor and the nostaliga that goes along with doing these things is just fine by me.
