I started to shave with a straight to reduce my razor burn and to reduce the amount I was spending on disposable blades. That was 3 years ago and I have not looked back. If I average my purchases and my sales from when I reduced my razor collection I probably either have a net gain or loss of 10 bucks which for 3 years of shaving every 2 or 3 days is pretty darn cheap.

Well it´s funny. I did a lot of arc welding on and of during my working days, (big ro-ro trailers and other construction things). After work I always shower before I go home. When I did my shaving I used a Gillette mach.
Even after a really hard facial wash the blade cartridge lasted only one time. This due to the metal particles, (chrome, iron, manganese and others), that got stuck in the skin. This ends up pretty expensive.
I got my first straight razor as a heirloom from my wife´s granddad. I started shaving with this and found out that I liked it. The best thing is that you just re hone it when it is getting to dull to shave with.
This is some 7 or 8 years ago, and I still shave with a straight razor, and intend to do so for as long as I can.Last edited by Ullmencott; 08-15-2013 at 04:18 PM.

Believe it or not, i was on the Duluth Trading site buying "Buck Naked Underwear". when i ran across a straight razor on their site. It wasn't a razor that most people would use due to the quality but it got me interested. So like any normal person would do i was off to the internet to research. After running across this site and many others one of the best experiences in my habitual life began. It was sheer fate that brought me here and the underwear from Duluth are the best i've ever purchased.
The value and interest of life is not so much to do conspicuous things.........as to do ordinary things with the perception of their enormous value.
