Thanked: 0Chromium Oxide paste where to purchase
Hi All,
Where does one purchase Chromium Oxide paste? Does it come in different grits? Colors? ect?
Does woodworking places like Lee Valley or Woodcraft.com have it? Seems like the ones here are like lapping powders.
Have a great day and God bless.
Thanks,
kelly

Thanked: 0Hi Steve,
Did you get the one that says "chromium Oxide Paste - Mohss Rating 8.5"? 1 ounce in a screw tube for 5.50 or 2 ounce container for 6 bucks. Wouldn't it be worth it for 50 cents more to get twice the amount? Theres no grit rating for this.
The silicon carbide has grits of 4000 and 9000 and the boron carbide is 11,000 grits.
Does anyone use the silicon carbide or the boron carbide pastes?

Thanked: 1I got the 5.50. It's probably worth getting the extra but I thought the tube would be easier to use for now. As I understand it, the grit is approx. 50k for the chrome ox.
I know some people love to use both the boron and the chromium.

Thanked: 346Their chromium oxide is 60k grit (0.5 micron). Even 1 ounce will last you for many years, and the chapstick-style tube makes it very quick and easy to apply. I use the boron carbide in preference over the 1 micron diamond. I use both on wood paddles, though most people use leather paddles.

Call Keith at HandAmerican.com. His Chromium Oxide is a green liquid. Just apply a few dots & rub it in. The website shows you how. Use latex gloves so you don't get green fingers.

How long did it take you guys to get your chromium oxide from Handamerican?
I placed an order there for some a month ago, prepaid via Paypal, haven't received it yet or heard anything about the status of the order.

Call Keith and find out what's going on. It only took me a couple of weeks to get mine, and that was because he was waiting on some leather I had ordered at the same time. Keith is great to talk with and usually delivers exceptional service.

They are known for their slow shipping. It took forever for my 1lb to get here but it eventually did. You can always call them and check.
