Thanked: 0I'm Back!
Hi to all those that know me, greetings to all those that dont...
I was active on the boards a while ago but then work/girlfriend commitments forced me to cut back on time spent surfing and actually do some real life stuff (otehr than shaving). Anyway, I have now finished my PhD and am working as a research associate in a russell group (UK equivalent to Ivy league) university. I'm still shaving with a straight (over a year and a half without using anything else) but I'm still not great at honing, although thats not much of a problem as my Puma keeps its edge for ages.
I should be back on a lot more now so I look forward to chatting with you all.
Dan

Thanked: 9Nice to meet you Dan and Congrats on the PhD. What were you studying and what are you researching now?
Reading your post I was very interested: are you one of those rare beings with just one or a couple of good razors? (because you said "my Puma" and not "my Pumas" or "most of my razors" or something like this) If so - more power to you! (unfortunately, I am only able to achieve this with brushes)
Cheers
Ivo

Thanked: 0I did maths and now I'm doing maths applied to genetics. Not very interesting really... I just like being called Doctor
I mainly shave with my Puma but I do have a couple of backups (basically a Lynn honed amco and timor) for when time constraints mean I can't sit down with the hone. I do love the Puma though, the size and the fact that it keeps its edge for an age means that I dont need a load of razors. Saying that, I used to have quite a few cheapish razors but I pretty much trashed them all when learning to hone. That reminds me... I've got a korn that I've been neglecting somewhere.

I too just checked back in after a long time away. I also still enjoy my straights. As I am an middle aged full time undergraduate student, I understand the lack of time. My studies have kept me away, but I have never forgotten the nice gents here.
