I have trouble reading what is written over on the right hand margin on some posts. Does anyone know how to adjust the screen so that the right hand margin doesn't cut off the page? Thanks.

I occasionally run into the same thing - it seems to happen when somebody posts a pictrue or attachment that makes the text window wider -

when it happens, scroll down to the very bottom, and you'll see a horizontal scorll bar - grab that and you can move the whole viewport left/right to better center it on the screen

thats the only solution I've been able to come up with - one of the
alpha-geeks might have a better suggestions

What Lou says is true. Also, you may get better results if your monitor is set to 1024x768 resolution, although some users don't like that if they have a smaller sized monitor. If neither of these suggestions resolves your problem, post again and let us know what operating system, browser, and screen resolution you're using. Also, post an example post where you have the problem. Let us know how you make out with this.

Thanks a lot Lou and Joe! I never noticed the scroll bar before. That sure fixed it!

If your mouse has a scroll-wheel, you can press it, the cursor will change and you can scroll with that function.

Just an FYI -- I don't think all scroll mice have this feature and/or you have to configure some things for this to work as you state.

I had this feature with every mouse I had over the last 5 years or so, with a run of the mill XP setup with no special mouse settings.

I believe what Joe is referring to is the fact that the function of the scroll wheel button (actually, all mouse buttons) can be changed in the Mouse Settings (I, in fact, have my scroll wheel button programed for the Magnifier so I can read small print with my rheumy old eyes!) but, as you state, Ilija, the Autoscroll is the default setting.

I only see about a half width without scrolling to the bottom, scrolling to the right, and then scrolling back up to where I was to finish the line, then scrolling back.....well, you get the idea.

A real PIA - but, I'm not complainin' tho.....complainin's not my style.....

Well, that's because canman23 linked in a couple pictures that are 1280x960... that means you'd have to set your monitor to something like 1600x1200 to have it fit properly on your screen. Almost none of us have a monitor that can do that. Canman23 would have to resize the pictures to fix this I'm afraid.

This is what happens when digital pictures are taken with high mega-pixel cameras and not resized to fit where they're being displayed. I don't mean to pick on Canman23 for doing that... just stating why and what needs to be done to fix it. There are a number of other threads on the site that have similar situations... the one that comes most readily to mind is Lx_Emergency's pic in the "What do you look like?" thread.

A good rule of thumb is to not link to a picture greater than about 600x400... that way people with monitors set to display 800x600 will not get blown away, and there are still a tremendous number of people running at that resolution!
