I'm going to suggest the Portland area, specifically 30 miles west in Forest Grove, a small commuting town and a home of Pacific University. There is also a large McMenamins Grand Lodge converted from an old Masonic retirement home on several acres of land. There is a decent number of motels also because of the University. Reasonable dining in the area. Location should draw a large number of Oregonian str8 shavers and southern Washington also. Glen indicated if a place could be found in this area he would come. I will, over the next several months look into spaces and the like. I need to know from someone if there is a budget allotted to finance the operation or what. How has it been handled in the past? PM with any info available so I can know if it can be done in this area. I'm also sure that the few stores in Portland that have men's shaving goods might be interested to have a booth or such to try to sell to a captive audience.

Thanked: 13245There has never been a "Budget" nor cost to the members, we have used free venues at all these... Mostly restaurants with a large enough area for us and that they are happy to have our business for the day..
I am good for the Portland or Seattle area I have old friends in either place that I would love to see
Remember that we also have been doing a Yakima meetup in the Springtime so let's keep that in mind too

Thanked: 995If I get there at all this weekend, I'll have to overcome some unexpected obstacles. I will be wishing you all a good time without me. I would be interested in a near-Portland meet and would do my best to make it there if you got one going.

Are there things we need to bring to this? Do people Trade or ?? I've never been to a Meet so wondering what structure and/or expectations there may be...

And, looks like there is enough interest in a West-Side Portland/Seattle Meet so I'll go ahead and start a Thread to get discussion moving.

Hi All!
Well I've exhausted every venue that I can on how to make it to the meet! I got the days off that I requested but I'm not going to be able to make it! To say that I'm disappointed would be a Huge Understatement!
The comradeship is wonderful, the hands on learning can't be beaten! For those that will be able to make it I envy you!
The atmosphere at Sushi.com and the friendly staff really seem to appreciate not only our business with them but that they can provide an inviting place for us to meet!
I hope that all who can attend find the event will have as an enjoyable time as I have in the past!

Thanked: 13245I think perhaps it is time for a roll call considering the storm that is rolling in.. I don't mind driving in weather but I sure don't want to drive through 60-80 MPH wind and 2 inches of rain if there are only going to be a couple of people coming....

I don't blame you in the least my friend! There's no sense putting yourself in harms way! From what I've read and seen it could be one hell of a storm. One prediction is that the Coast/Seattle may have one of the wettest September's on record!
