What a pleasure it was to meet so many like-minded razor lovers. Thanks to Joe, Frank, Sam, Bill, Nelson and all who freely gave their time and expertise. Looking forward to the next one!

That was fun and informative!
This was my first shaving meetup of any kind, and it was appropriate that it was a straight razor / honing gathering. What an intensely focused, passionate, obsessive, happy crew!
AirportCopper was my intro. He's been a regular Mother Theresa of honing, honing up my three razors after I newbie stropped them dull. At the gathering he put a 20K edge on the Bismark and Wostenholm Wedge, and his honemaster, Bill3152, was sitting right next to us and graciously put a JNat edge on the my Torrey. Wow --- it's just getting better and better. The Bismark 20K edge was fantastic, but the JNat goes about 10-15% better in my rather newbish opinion. They're clearly the most refined edges I've yet experienced, and not only did I get to shave with them, I got to see them honed. All because of this meet-up.
That happy obsession, shared generously, was a pleasure to be part of. That was one of the things I enjoyed about the meetup -- the happy passion.
I was particularly fascinated and inspired by Nelson. I suspect I may have seemed a bit rude in my extended and open staring at him as he honed -- Nelson, if you read this, please accept my apologies. But, when you see someone who's clearly a master at what he does, who's been doing it for so long, with such focus that it's become second nature to him, that he has an entire perspective and lifestyle into which that pursuit is woven, whose very movements, and body are so integrated with that activity, he does them with super clarity, and at an almost reflex level -- that's how Nelson hones. The Zen of honing: it's a rare and beautiful thing to see.
Everyone was a pleasure to meet, talk with, discuss razors, honing, stropping, shaving shop with, as well as a variety of other diverse topics. And, everyone was very generous. With the pot-luck raffle, almost everyone went home with some goodie (me: an Art of Shaving travel badger brush - very nice). Thanks to Sam for organizing and hosting and breakfast, and everyone for being very open, friendly, supportive.
Looking forward to more.
Appreciatively,
SingingSteel
