rickboone / hidestoart,
Gentlemen, you will notice that this is my first post on this forum. However, please know that I've "lurked" around SRP for nearly 2 years before creating a login account. I largely credit this forum, and a "little" additional internet / youtube research, for allowing me to dive into the world of straight razor shaving and for helping me find creative ways to drain my bank account.
Not to be long-winded, but like many others have posted on here in past threads, I suffered from years of redness and irritation from cartridge shaving. However, those experiences came to an end after the first three months of consistently using a straight. By no means do I consider myself a "straight-razor-pro," nor would I ever be so arrogant and ignorant to claim such after having only spent just under two years exploring this world and all it has to offer. As such, I would thoroughly enjoy an opportunity to join all of you gentlemen for the Asheville Meet-Up. Do you have room for one more FNG?
Best regards,
ShavingSnob (Brian)

Hey Guys - Thanks for the quick response.
At this point I don't have any immediate questions. I did my "homework" by reading through the entire thread, accessing the dropbox schedule, scoping the meet area on Google Maps, and I looked for hotels in the area before posting. More than likely, I'll be driving in from TN very early Saturday morning, so I might be a few minutes late if I run into a traffic coming over the mountain. I'll be staying the night Saturday in order to attend the Sunday meet as well. In addition, I'll bring my handheld video camera, as I read where you guys put out a call for such in the hope to record as much of this as possible.
Regarding the outing for the wives - great idea! But, mine won't be able to make it, so I get to leave her at home this time. In any case, I certainly look forward meeting you gentlemen as well.

Welcome aboard, Brian! Four years in, and I still consider myself an FNG, especially compared to some of the real experts on this forum. Like Randy, I look forward to seeing you in Asheville. This one is really shaping up to be an epic meetup. SHD/Aaron

Well guys it is time to show the pictures of the hone Miesters so you will know who is who when you walk in. Each is here to show you their style & perspective on honing.
Speaking of honing. I have been asked to share their thoughts on this subject. Sure they are going to do some free honing. However keep in mind there are 3 of them and they want to have fun at the meetup as well. So they would like to limit it to 1 honing per attendee. If time allows they may do more. With the size of group that is signed up I am sure you can understand why we don't want to bog them down. If you are new to Straight Razors don't be shy let them know. If you already hone please offer to share in the work load for the new guys that may have more than 1 razor.
