I had just been thinking that I really would not be able to afford to come this year, but now I see that I'm going to have to. Count me in!

I'll be coming up from Fort Worth for at least one day, probably Saturday. Sounds like a pretty star-studded cast and hopefully I can soak up some knowledge. I'm really looking forward to it.
I will have 4 floating holidays after the first of the year....
Very, very nice!
I've known Howard and Mike Blue from Don Fogg's forums since I made my first katana around 2008. Howard has been as much of a father to us all as Don was, and it will be incredible to meet up with him in person after all of these years.
If I can get things situated (i.e. decide on which bike I want by next year lol), I'll definitely be seeing about coming over. I might just bring a few friends along as well :).
Wow that is very tempting. Also very intimidating with all the high power people that seem to be coming for a relative newbie. Only about a five hour drive from Bryan Tx although I may be in California at that time. Not sure though! Sounds like a lot of fun though!
Mike
If you do come and meet Howard...you'll find he's the least intimidating man on the planet. Truly a great guy. This event is approaching 'hammer in' status, lol. My experience with hammer in's is that the people who you would think would be the most intimidating, aren't...and tend to fall all over ourselves to make the new guys feel comfortable. We know the future of our craft is in your hands...and treat you with the kindness and respect you deserve.
At least until you prove somehow that you don't lol. Then, watch out :p.
Honestly though...if this is like the bladesmithing events I've attended, you'll be so busy enjoying yourself you won't remember to be intimidated :).
You will enjoy this Razor Meet a lot. We have fun in addition to pounding & grinding steel, honing , making scales and restoring. There is no rigid formality here. Just a bunch of guys who like all things very, very sharp and shiny. Last year I caught a lot of good natured ribbing for wearing a English bowler hat and a pair of red plaid pajamas ! :) ( they were just warm enough on the coldest part of the morning :) )
Hope to meet you there :)
