Thanked: 22094th Annual North Central Texas Razor Meet at Charlie Lewis Razor Workshop
Hey Guys
It is time for our 4th Annual North Central Texas Razor Meet at Charlie Lewis Razor Workshop!
The dates ... Feb 11-15 2016 inclusive. Thursday Feb 11 thru Monday Feb 15 2016
The place ... Burkburnett ,Texas. For the address just post in this thread and it will be sent to you.
Burkburnett is 120 miles due south of Oklahoma City and just over the state line into Texas.
It is also about 2 hours north of Dallas.
The focus at this Razor Meet is the forging of straight razors and then the various techniques of grinding them and heat treating and tempering.
This time will be special, our very own Bruno, the super duper SRP Admin, will be flying in from Belgium to spend a couple days at the Razor Meet. He will be there Feb 11 & 12 only. He has to fly out Saturday morning due to time zone differences & the length flight times. So if you want to meet Bruno please be there Thursday or Friday. As some of you know Bruno forges some very nice razors !
Charlie and me have spoken with a few people so far and it looks like
Howard Clark, a talented blade smith of razors, Japanese Katana/ Wakizashi and Tanto swords and knives will be attending.
Mike Blue , a good friend of Howards, will be there. Mike is SRP's reference book for all things metallurgy and heat treating. He also is another very good knife, sword and razor maker. I was very sorry to see him move away from Minnesota
Bob Allman, from OCD Razors in the south of Texas will be there! He makes some really cool razors.
Darrin Sanders from Pollock, LA may be there. Darrin is very good stock removal method for knives.
We will have 2-3 of each forage and anvils available plus a couple of 2 x 72 belt grinders.
Utopian and me will also be there.
I have asked Lloyd Harner and Joe chandler and they are considering it. It depends on their schedules. I will be asking Tim Zowada and Robert Williams also. ( Those guys seldom look at this forum)
If any news guys want to learn about honing be sure to attend because we will make time for you to learn. There will also be adequate opportunity for scale making and razor restoration.
Most days start at 9 am and go until 5-6 pm unless Charlie falls asleep first
There is a very inexpensive motel called the Twilite Motel about 1 mile from the workshop. Last year was $50/nite , 2 beds, triple occupancy ( extra cot is available if you want that). This is a very old motel, just basics but clean. Plus there are numerous motels in Wichita Falls just 10 miles south at very reasonable rates.
Be sure to post in this thread if you plan on attending and for what days.
If you have anymore questions just ask.
Hope to see you all thereLast edited by randydance062449; 11-09-2015 at 02:16 AM.

I do hope that anyone that is within reasonable distance to this will make Ever Effort to make it!
Damn I just wish I could be one of the lucky ones!
Have fun guys and enjoy what so many can only wish for! !Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Looking forward to it. It is as randy says. Due to travel times and the time zone difference i have to leave for the airport on saturday morning. I already spent a good deal of time with mike this weekend. The trip to texas will allow me to meet many people in person i have wanted to meet for a long time
