Thanked: 3Calgary Wetshave Social Club
So, does it exist? Should it?
The reason I ask, is because I'm always dying to talk to others about everything wet shaving/honing/beer/spirits.
I am not trying to advocate here, but I have a friend who is part owner of Last Best Brewery on 11th (also wants to get into wet shaves), and he had an admirable vision for a space he has downstairs. To be honest, I don't even know the name of the it, but picture an underground whiskey bar, decorated with antiquities, with a barbers chair/barber doing wet shaves/haircuts in the corner, with access to fresh and delicious craft beer and spirits. This is that place. (Edit, it's called Johnny's Barber Shop. It's pretty much a bar with a few barber chairs set up.) I think this is the coolest place for wet shave enthusiasts in Calgary and surrounding to drink and talk shaves.
I was reminded of this today on Twitter. Every 1st Wednesday of the month, there is a craft beer social club that gathers and goes full craft beer nerd.
In my experience from Subaru meet ups, I found that it's nice to have a distraction, or second purpose for this type of thing. If only one other guy/gal shows up, or you show up by yourself, you can at least enjoy the other stuff going on.
If anyone wants to get a conversation going about this in an effort to gain momentum, please add me on Twitter @wetshaveyyc, or just reply to this thread! Let's see if we can do a meet for the first Wednesday of February!!
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this restaurant or any Calgary wet shave vendors that this may draw the attention of.

Hey Nick,
I'm always game when it comes to introducing somebody to wet shaving.
It seems you found a pretty cool location for a meet up.

Nick, if you feel like venturing north this weekend, a few of us are gathering at Kent of Inglewood in Edmonton from 6:30-8:30.
Also, we usually do an annual SRP meet that alternates between Calgary and Edmonton. Last was at Ralph's, and assuming construction goes well, I will be hosting this year's at my workshop, complete with grinder, HT and possibly even a forge.Jon

Welcome back. It has been a bit quiet for meetups up here, my plan to build a workshop last year and host a meet fell through, so there was no official meet in 2016. May be doing a meet with one of the FB groups at the end of January. Failing that, if you want to swing by KOI, I'm always happy to talk shop.
