You guys are over thinking this stuff.

Come prepared and know what you need to ask.

No insult intended but none of these people are teachers by trade.

Ask the questions and they are knowable.

Charlie, what is the name if that breakfast restaurant we went to? You said they are under new ownership. Have they changed the name? Address is ?

This is for the new guys info.

We should all try to meet there on the first morning.

That's the most important point. I don't really have a set plan, other than making a damascus billet and forging / grinding a razor from that, and explaining things along the way. I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. It's not like I set out with a list of things I want to have explained at the end of the process. And I think this is more or less the case for everyone who will be there.

Charlie called it cat herding nd that sounds about right. It is a form of organized chaos where we have food at certain point, and the time in between gets filled with just doing things as they come up.

And I promise you that if you haven't seen victor grind, at first you'll think: this will never work. And yet it does, time and again. Most ingenious bit of grinder thinking I've ever seen.

The restaurant is in the midst of changing owners, I will find out the scoop on Monday. I am pretty sure they will be up and running, they have put a new sign up, but I do not remember the name. I will make a post tomorrow with the pertinent information.

It is like Bruno, Tim, and others have said, there is no set schedule or syllabus or structure, just a bunch of guys exchanging information and techniques. It is pretty much what ever you want it to be, from hammering, grinding, heat treat, to just BS-ing.

If you are driving, bring a chair or two with you, maybe a table of sorts.

The shop is not heated, it could be crappy weather and cold so be prepared for cold and standing on cold concrete. The last few years we have lucked out, I hope the good weather streak goes another year.

Bring your safety gear if you have it, eyes, ears, lungs, hands, we will have some on hand also.

With the people that are coming we will have a great knowledge base to draw from, you may not end up with finished product, but you will have the concepts down.

That is all I can think of.

Oh no,, I hope the new owners didn't change the menu or ingredients used with the same cook, that place was a jewel. Oh ya cone and have fun, do as you please but always remember " STAY OFF MY LAWN". That's a quote from Charlie , he is a known curmudgeon.

At Kyle, if Bill brings his collection, your doomed.

Has anyone heard from Bob Allman yet? Someone has to buy Charlie some banana pudding! Not to mention his knives and razors are really cool.
