Gembloux 2016
Went again to the knifeshow in gembloux. No table because the organization does not believe in modern communication it seems but it was better because I had all the fun and no obligation to stay at a table all day.
We started the event on Friday by discovering that we didn't actually have food except for a couple of small baguettes, and some potato chips. We did have sufficient quantities of beer and whisky and I was smart enough to drink enough water before going to sleep so I didn't have a dehydration hangover. The pics include one of England's best knifemakers Grace Horne, and Ed Schempp. And for the members of the Artisan Razor Smithing Experts, mouse was there as well.
We also found out that In the absence of coffee filters, toilet paper can act as a substitute. We had no filters, ground coffee, and a hangover so improv was needed.
Our house was the same as last time, but this time there were fewer of us and we stayed in the little annex.

I got one of Ed's mosaic damascus rings.
Swapped a knife for a pair of scissors made by Grace
And finally got my new load of damascus from Ed. It's a wild damascus, with my logo running throughout the entire billet in nickel. So I can just cut slabs, forge them into blades, and they will have my logo in them as part of the steel. I also got some rods that have my logo in them so I can plug weld them into other knives or razors.

And finally some pics of the things I picked up.
A new drawing hammer, some blocks of stabilized wood and handle material. A sandpaper file which may or may not be convenient but it was only 10 euros so we'll see. And finally a 2.3 kilo wootz ingot

Wasn't there this year, but I followed the work of several metal artists who were.
Nice to read you've been having a good time.

All those scale blanks made me start to drool.
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Very nice Bruno. Quite a crowd. Obviously it is a popular pursuit in your neck of the woods. Interested to see what works of art will be born out of that load of iron you picked up.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
