Thanked: 0I look forward to one of these. I couldn't imagine learning to hone without hands on instruction from someone.

Thanked: 0
At a recent neighborhood party, the subject of SR came up and one of the guest said, “My Grandfather was a barber all his life here in Denver, and I have all his razors in a box”. I thought there would be a few, but this morning, I went over and he presented me with ~ 50 razors. Some are not salvageable, but a number look to be very unique. There is rust and corrosion. I’m just learning to hone, but restoration looks to be a great future hobby. Can’t wait until the next meeting.Last edited by dleonetti; 09-11-2017 at 01:44 AM.

WOW, Nice score!
A lot of elbow grease and sand paper can make razors come around. Just remember that they dont need to be perfect. Just cleaned up and as long as the edge dont have any rust, they can normally come around to be fine shavers. Guess its time to start saving your pennies for a set of hones too. It's just Sharpening, right?

Some are still salvageable even with rust and corrosion. Ones that are too far gone for shaving can also make for really cool decoration pieces for the man cave.

Thanked: 0After winning the football pool last year, I bought the Norton set and a 12K Naniwa. Still learning, and just now able to cut arm hair. Following YouTube "Adventures in Wet Shaving" method with some limited success. Maybe moving on to the "Murray Carter" method.

Thanked: 0Hello Gents, I believe I mentioned before, I have come into over 100 antique straights from a 1940’s Denver barber. I have begged a small space from the lady boss I live with to open a small workshop close to the basement sink. So far it has been great fun as I continue my honing education. I have gone from 50 questions to 1,000 problems. I will bore you with the progress. Obviously, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Can’t wait for the meet up.
