Tom an auxiliary lens sounds interesting, I trust you are bringing it.

This thing came with a few cheap flashlights on each side, a monocle on the right side, and another double-magnifier to be flipped-down from the inside.
I stripped it of everything, saving the duplicate inside for when the outer one gets too worn. It's time to replace!
Tim I expect some honey
Bring a quart for me too, I will gladly pay for it!
I got plenty of honey.
My wife said I should bring down a 5 gallon bucket and have you guys scoop out what you want....
I really have to get going on my honey heater setup most of mine is crystallized at the moment.
What time will things get going on the 20th? And how’s the area for crashing out in the car? The flights I’m looking at get me to OKC around midnight, then I need to drive to the shop. Figured when I get into town I’d just park in front of the shop and take a nap until guys showed up.
We meet for breakfast in the morning at the restaurant mentioned earlier in the thread.

Looks like I’m going to sleep in the terminal for a few hours then head up there around 5-5:30. Decided to fly into Dallas as it saved a few bucks and was able to get a direct flight back.
If anyone else is flying into Dallas ( Love Field) and needs a ride, I’ll be headed out about 5:30am on 2/20.
I've forgotten what time we go to the restaurant, but I'm thinking 8:00
I usually get there around 7-7:30 I like getting coffee into me before interactions with people. And just make sure you stay out of my parking spot in front
A couple of the locals commented one time when I pulled up that they thought I was the Game Warden.
Do the Game Wardens in that area drive grey trucks?

I am at Rolodaves for some lessons on making scales.
Here are my first 2 using Kentuck wild cherry wood.
I need a lot more practice ! :)

And these are the original off gassing celluloid scales.

And this is our project for this evening.
Slicing up 2 bison bone for scales. :)
Look good!
A little narrower with the replacements in my opinion,
You guys take a LOT of pictures for me. I want to see what all projects you guys do. Wish I could be there. Got plenty of stuff to work on and I really would love to make my own knives and razors eventually. And Charlie Lewis hosting!!
Charlie is hosting but technical support for me on my project last year was Scott, Victor, Andy, Charlie, Randy and maybe more. With their help we were able to make a pretty cool razor. Pete also completed a pretty cool razor. I also learned about doing regrinds thanks in part to Tom for supplying me with some deadbeats to revive. There were many busy people there. Tim actually forged a stack of blanks to finish at home. Victor was working on a razor, Bruno went crazy making pattern welded billets, Jamie made a knife and worked on a razor, TC made a ton of food BBQ and forge and rough ground a blade. Scott did some stuff, Charlie and Victor heat treated an anvil, Dave made scales and did regrinds. The amount of activity was pretty incredible. The whole place was like an anthill. There was also some great conversations, coffee drank, food eaten, laughs shared, and information exchanged.
We are all very different people from many different walks of life.
We have something in common.
It is a very pleasant surprise to me that we all get together and have such a good time.
A whole bunch of trimmings.
Dave is sawing out 1 set of scales now.
Thats all we could get from those 2 bones.
Rezdog, you can give us some ideas on what the trimmings could be used for.Attachment 300802

And these are the rough cut scales.
Ok, these 2 end pieces will be squared off on the end then we can stuff a knot into it and have a shaving brush ! :)Attachment 300804
So are we starting on Thursday morning than. I plan on heading there on wednesday
Randy is Ron going to be heading this way
I see a bunch of wedges, a few pieces that might make inlays and some beads in those scraps Randy. I like the idea of making brushes.
I for 1 am thankful for being surrounded by such great minds..
Been looking for videos on grinding a full hollow, I can’t seem to find any how too’s.
I have a new sequence where I first make it into a ~quarter hollow, then a half hollow, then a full hollow. So you will get all of the practical experience of doing the first two grinds before you scrap it trying the full hollow.:rofl2:
Well, some people scrap it at the half hollow stage. :rofl2::rofl2:
I’ll be happy if I learn anything, I figure I’ll start with names, screw those up, then worry about razors, and then also screw those up.
I just hope I don’t get blind sided by the forging bug, I always planned on just doing stock removal if I ever get a belt grinder. The problem I see is that forging seems like a far more practical way to get close to final form and save in material and time.
