Ohio get-together requests
I wanted to ask everyone who is planning to come to the Ohio get-together this week if you wanted me to bring anything specific. I'm going to try to bring as much razor-related junk along as I can think of, but if there's anything you'd like to learn about in particular, could you post it here?
From my perspective, I'd like to see everyone bring their hones, problem razors and restoration candidates. Hopefully Tim will be bringing his grinder and some nice Damascus blanks that we can fool around with learning to grind.
I'll be bringing a lot of tools and stuff that I use for restoration.
If anyone has a DMT 8K, I'd love a chance to try one out.
Just wanted to start making my packing list...

Thanked: 4942Awesome!!
Bring some of your handles and home made set ups and you can show us how to rehandle in addtion to swapping honing techniques. I have a belt sander at the house. Maybe we'll get lucky on a Tim lesson.

I'll try to see if I can't bring some scales in various stages of completion to show the progression.

I just poured an epoxy finish on a practice set of scales and am laying some urethane on two other practice sets. I have a beat up old W H Morley clover brand razor I was going to practice restoring and scaling on. I will bring along my 1200 DMT and 4K/8K Norton. The scales are not drilled for pins, don’t know what size hole to drill or how to pin. Hoping to learn this weekend.

I just put the 4th coat of urethane on the walnut scales. This blasted humidity is making the epoxy take forever to cure.

Thanked: 2Hello, I truly may have joined this site at the best possible time. I just got into razors about a month ago and signed up yesterday. I live in columbus and will be coming up on saturday. Can't wait to meet everyone.

If I didn't pay a couple hundred for a guided snow goose hunt in MD already, and if I didn't blow off some friends who are going to see Avenue Q for the hunt, I would have been there.
Seriously. I'd love to make it and learn all that neat stuff, but just can't. Sounds like you guys are gonna have a good time!
