No worries, my pleasure Tink. How can the missus not be into blades when you make knives I also see you are an Archer, way to go! It's been quite a few years since I have shot a longbow, which type do you use? I'm getting the Arching bug again now.
So do you think you may progress to razor making as you progress in your skills?
Sorry for the Gents!

no, i dont shoot yet, i really really want to though, just dont have the time or funds at the moment. learning to drive at the same time as trying to find a place to live, and get married is a bit difficult, and constraining on time and finances.
Definatly going to be making razors, if they're any good or not, well... time will tell. i haven't got the right tools for a hollow grind, so it'll only be flat grinds for the moment, but i reckon it shouldn't be too hard.
The missus puts up with my knife making, as she does my airsofting, love of guns, and desire to be an archer, and desire to be a viking in larp stuff.
I put up with her love of shoes, and horse riding.
i find the balance is quite perfect
EDIT: i agree, sorry for off topic-ness. anyway, if i dont manage to get to this one, i'll happily make a razor for the raffle prize for the next one, if you want me toLast edited by Tink; 08-25-2008 at 09:42 PM.

Hi Tink
Just let us know what you still need to know after reading this http://straightrazorpalace.com/front...gathering.html
If there are gaps in the info it would be good to sort.
Hope you get transport sorted out.

Further bit of good news (as originally told to Silver!) is that TI are going to provide a 'gift' (hopefully a razor!) for the raffle. How good is THAT!

Instead of a raffle maybe we should just have lucky bags for the attendees with a selection of items in each - so many excellent things! To not go to this event requires a good excuse - if only for the raffle
Little response from other forums so far - an interesting piece of research would be to find out how many online forum users in general actually leave the house - or the computer chair?

makar, give it time. the boys on BB appreciate all sorts of sharps, can't really see them pass something like this up after all the hammerins, etc etc.
Not so much a lack of information as my ineptitude to read the whole thread.
whats a rough guide for how much money folks need (for entrance, food and drink after, etc etc etc) excluding buying things?

Thanked: 131Stephen will correct me if i'm wrong but I think its a case of no entry fee (just a donation to the local charity arranged on the day) and however much you would usually spend on a pub grub.
Can I also suggest Stephen that we book somewhere for food in advance, since 5 or 6 people decending on one place is manageable but we now number around 15 people....

Yep - no charge but I reckon a few quid to the raffle will be a given. Be mad not to really! Tink - hope some guys at BB do come along - only one reply on the thread so far and they can't. Certainly plenty of latent interest in str8s over there.
Re food Sandy - I agree this needs to be sorted at some point but I was going to wait till September and then we can get a page sent round to confirmed folks to print off and at the same time get a firm up of how many want to eat and/or drink somewhere. I can see you are eager for another task?
Perhaps Morturn has the lowdown on Brum eateries near the city centre? We would need to go back to accommodation first to ditch serious metal before hitting town.
thanks
Stephen
