    Default Getting Closer !!!

So I made it to Loveland today, and I gotta tell you this story from the trip...
The wife is driving through the boonies of Western Montana and pulls off the hiway in a small town called St. Regis two reasons.... Number one for her, was the ladies room, but she says "Look Honey an Antique Store go check it out and I'll meet ya there"

So in one corner I find some razors and snag a nice zero hone wear "Poraso" brand Solingen 5/8+ but better then that in the tools, I find an old greasy hone in a wooden box that I actually ran a razor across before I bought it and it looks to be perhaps a Charnley Forest about 8x2 inches... Will know much more as I get it cleaned up some...

Great start to this trip huh??? See you guys Sunday

That's awesome to hear, Glen! And, welcome back to CO.

I have to admit, you have some funny luck when coming here. Last time in December the roads were so icy you swore to never return in the winter. Well, now it's summer and we are receiving record breaking heat. Go figure.

So, there is only one thing to do. You are gonna have to sacrifice the Charnley to the CO weather Gods. And, on behalf of the Gods I can take the hone for the greater good of mankind.

    Default Colorado meeting

It was a pleasure to meet everyone at the Colorado meeting, thank you so much for putting up with a newbie and being patient. I would also like to thank Glen for taking the time to share some of his techniques and sharpen a lot of razors. Watching him "bread knife" a nick from a blade was a sight to see. I would have not imagined that this could have been done using the technique that Glen used.

I would strongly suggest that anyone who has to chance to make one of these meetings, that they do so. A lot of things that are written on this site become much clearer when you have a chance to see them first hand from a expert like Glen. My life will be a lot easier from attending this meeting.

Once again I would like to thank everyone that was at the meeting it was a pleasure to meet all of you.

Yes, yes. this was a great time. and totally worth the rashioning of dodo I got from the wife when I got home, for spending the whole day out away goofing off.

I will be giving my butter knife a good run here in the next half hour. Will post up in the AM how it goes, assuming I dont have to take a trip to get stitches.

    THANKS GLEN!

Default Had hoped to ber there

Sorry Guys I had really hoped to make it down today, but it was not in the cards.

I am glad Neil made it to the meeting I have been trying to help him find homes for the collection his dad put together. He has some very nice pieces that are looking for homes.Neil also needs to be encouraged to continue with the passion that his father had, even if it is in a much more limited fashion.

Make sure you Pester Neil to join the group also!

so once again my apology for not making it down.

Glen when are you headed home? If you are coming North up I-25 through Cheyenne, let me know and I will buy you guys breakfast/lunch/dinner/ depending on what time you come through.

    Jeremy

It was a pleasure to meet everyone. I had a great time (over six hours) visiting, seeing and learning many things.

A big THANK YOU to Glen and Travis for bringing their big boxes filled with razors, strops, and hones for us all to see. Thanks for the demos and answering all of the questions we had. It is amazing how a quick demo of a few seconds can replace countless paragraphs of text.

I am definitely up for doing this again and I would love to see a national meet sometime.
