    Default 2nd Annual- Pacific & Inland NW/Western Canada-Meet Up

Hi, all. Susan and I just pulled into Columbia Falls after lounging around Spokane for another day after Sunday. All I can say is WOW!...what a fun deal that was. Thanks primarily to Glen for seeing to it that this meet came off so well and at a great venue. Sushi.com is a great place to eat and the staff was just wonderful. First of all...my apologies to everyone for dominating the stones. As I said to someone there, I promised not to have Glen hone any of my stuff for fear of being a hog, but every time the stones became open somehow one of my razors was right there. Thank you, Glen, I learned so much from your skills and your insights. Seeing it done in person is truly mesmerizing. We met so many nice people...thank you one and all for your hospitality and kindnesses...and special thanks to Michael for the soap/cream/lotion. To address Cudarunners request for jobs/current/past....I am retired but worked the last 19 years at a bronze art foundry in Kalispell and Susan is the CFO for Gardner's RV in Kalispell. We have ranched Texas Longhorn cattle in the Flathead Valley for 27 years but as of 2003 we retired from the cattle business. Again, thanks to all of you for such a fun deal.

Cool Some pics of the meet

First off let me say this meet was a blast, seems that there is never enough time...
The service and food at Sushi.com was as always fantastic
Let's see to answer some of the questions
Working a retirement gig as a Finance Manager at a Ford Dealership and of course GemStar Customs.

Best quote of the day???? Steve: "Oh my God now that is SHARP" BTW did ya shave that W&B yet hehehe

I still really can't believe we all got to meet Paul in person considering he lives in Tonga and that is just a wee bit of a trip away...

As always we all had to wait for Michael to stop talking so much so we could fit a few words in here and there

We have got to do another one at either Gerrit's shop, or mine so we can do some more fun stuff...we also need to figure out how to pack more hours in the day

Here are some of the pics that I got I think I spelled all the names right ...

Hope to see everyone again soon

A right fine 'Stache there, Hornm.

I'd eliminate more than a few nicks if I grew one.

Wow, that is officially the goofiest picture of me ever. I must have been eating.
I am a pre-med student and researcher for the record.
I am definitely up to open the shop again. I haven't worked much wood since my surgery. Of course, Glen's shop has some cool toys though.

What a wonderful day getting to see old friends and meeting new ones. Had a good time talking to Glenn's wife and getting some new toys from Glenn I may be crazy but I do love the vintage de blades and itty bitty straights. Wish there was more time. As always sushi.com was awesome very friendly and accommodating. I have to be the proud mommy and say that Cort was an amazing little girl and very patient with all the adult talk. As for work I have been a caregiver for the last 10 years at an adult family home. Thanks again for all the hard work that was put into setting the meeting up. Wanda

You know Wanda & Gerrit I was going to mention that also, but being a non-parent wasn't sure if it was appropriate
Cortland had to be bored as all get out, and was so well behaved, never fussed a bit. I think you guys should take "Proud Parent" kudo's on that

Hi, folks. I'd like to add my compliments to Gerrit and Nanna for such a well behaved child. Every time I looked downtable, there she was, quietly fiddly with crayons and just being thoroughly self absorbed. Glen, I just shaved with the Wade and Butcher and WOW, what a difference. I had to adjust my angle somewhat and the sound was so different, but the results were way beyond what I was getting before...thank you again, my friend. I can't wait to try the Henckels and the Walky Gold. Actually, they will be the second and third straight razors that I've ever shaved with! Talk about a learning curve! Thank you goes to Gerrit for the Bairlea Farms puck...it's a day or two away in the rotation. Glenn "2NN's"...I wanted to get around the table to see your roll but I was caught like a deer in the headlights of the honing process so I'm guessing this means that we will have to get together again soon so we can "spread out" and get better acquainted with one another. I vote for Glen's but that's only because we live just down the road so to speak. I think Michael deserves the award for the best handlebar at the meet...do we all agree? Hopefully we will hear from Paul soon, but its a long paddle from Spokane to Tonga by way of San Francisco. The custom razor cases were really a well engineered piece of work. So much information was bandied about in the short time we had that much of it is just now beginning to backwash into my conscience. On an "off topic" note...Susan and I experienced our first fire alarm at the Hampton Inn at 3:20 Sunday morning. It was a false alarm as apparently the accumulated dust from the up-til-then unused heating system set off the alarm! At 3:19 that same morning I was happily dreaming about straight razors so when the fire alarm was over I considered heading for the bathroom for a shave! I opted for a return to my dreams.
