    Hi There,
While I have had my razors honed by Lynn Abrams, Im also in NYC, and was looking for someone local, because being new, I had trouble maintaining an edge, and didn't want to have to wait a week or so to mail them out.. Actually, Lynn is pretty fast. But if your looking in the NYC area, you have to contact this member here..his member name is Bayamontate. He's been a member here since 2009, and has only ever shaved with straights his entire life..He has generously spent time with me to teach me to hone using my Coticule, and reccomended other stones I would need(1k and a 12k finisher). He was also kind enough, to make a few bench strops for me, loaded with pastes for maintenance in between honing..

So back to his honing.. I have a ridiculously coarse beard, and this guy, put a scary sharp and smooth edge on my razors..I'm still learning, so I give him the razors I use often to hone, and I have 1 or 2 cheapie practice razors to hone myself....Don't hesitate to contact him. He definitely knows his stuff. Here is his Member info..

    Good Luck and welcome..

Thank you for the props Basil.

Looking forward to the next meet, it's been too long, we had a good thing going.

Videos are very helpful but, IMO, there is nothing better than seeing things being done up close and personal, watching Dylan hone in the first two meets made it really happen for me.

Not a problem Nelson, you've been a great help, and deserve the props...

    Thanks

Hey guys, I'm also new to this board and live in Brooklyn. Would love to attend the meet-up. Started honing a few ago with success and would love to attend ( I'd always love to learn more about our "hobby" ). Going to start my first pair of Micarta scales today. Wish me luck!
