Just west of East Jesus Illinois, on the old highway, look for the Bates Motel.

I live right here in Ames also. I am just about 2 miles off campus. Which barber is it here in Ames that sells their own products? The only two barbers I can even think of is Monty's right by state gym and Tom's on main street.

The Groom Room on Main street, in H.L. Munn on Kellogg and Main. Troy is the owner, and VERY knowledgeable about wet shaving. Though he is a DE razor guy himself.

A little off topic of your get together idea...

Are the products made at the The Groom Room any good? What all do they sell there?

We are still discussing Central Iowa though, and I can only see that as a good thing...

They sell cheaper creams and soaps for those looking to get by on a budget. They also have their own line of soaps and creams, which is what I use right now. Very good products.

They also have some very good looking double edged razors, both old and new, along with new DE blades, brushes, bowls, etc. Although they don't have any straight razors that I know of, or any strops. Just plan on being there a while if you stop in and mention wet shaving. Troy is VERY knowledgeable, and loves to discuss anything to do with razors.

I'm glad I found this post. I know it is quite old, but I live just near Ames and I will definitely stop by the Groom Room
