That is a good plan, a meet up with experienced shavers and honers is a really great way to get a good start.
I myself are a wee bit too far away to help I'm afraid, but in addition to any replies in this thread, do check out this page from our wiki:
Local Help - Straight Razor Place Wiki
Perhaps you'll find someone in there that might fit the bill
Any of us that are listed there, are willing to help out if at all possible, so feel free to contact any of those who are close to you.
In addition to that, do look for meet-ups that are being held in your general area, chances are, there might just be one planned in the not so far future.
Good luckBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 443Hey guys,
I'm just working through the meetups forum and adding things to the calendar. You might get your idea in front of more eyeballs if you push it in your sig file. I'll keep an eye on the thread here; if anything gels I'll put it on the calendar for you.
Check out Glen's Pacific Northwest thread--he used the survey function to decide a date. Much cooler than the multiple posts I used for the Denver one!
Good luck and best wishes."These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."

Ha! Thanks, Dave! That would be swell! OK, Texas boys! Bob Allman, the awesome custom maker is in too! If anyone sees another from around here, direct them to this thread! The more, the merrier!

I rest my case.
