I don't know what to say beyond I'm truly saddened to lose this friend. My prayers go out to his family. If there was such a thing as a renaissance man, Neil was it.
What a loss - just surreal. I only had just a few short emails back and forth with him but I always enjoyed reading his posts. Puts things in perspective. Rest in peace buddy. Prayers to his family.
No words...just kind of a disbelief
Hard to add anything that hasn't been said , but he was a very honest man who I respected so very much , you will be missed , my condolences to the family and they will be in our prayers Sadly. We say farewell Neil. Tc
Wow, that is sad news indeed...
Rest in peace Neil. My condolences to the family and friends.
I was honored to call him a friend. I especially loved when he ran on with his rapier wit, and many times poked fun at me to the point where I just laughed myself simple. You couldnt be any more clever the Neil. No one could.
He will be dearly missed by all.
Bless his family and all who loved him.
I am very sad to hear that has Neil has passed, a great loss to this community.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones.
RIP Neil

This is a great shock. Neil truly was one of a kind and will be missed as much for his straight talking as his knowledge of razor history, manufacturers and incredible ability to research detail.
RIP...
Sad news indeed for the straight razor community.
"Well, they told you of the sickness
all those many months ago
Yes, they told you of the sickness
all those many months ago
You went down fighting, Brother. Yes
You fought Death toe to toe"
God Bless you Neil. See you again one day...
I am a believer in life ever after. He will enjoy the peace. I believe he had suffered and is no longer. RIP
A small community gets smaller. The pool of knowledge a little less deep. Its at these times it becomes more obvious that, for all of us, every time we stand in front of the mirror to shave we are keeping the tradition alive. But I'm sure Neil was more than a straight shaver - perhaps a friend, a husband, a brother or father...all the things that define an individual. Truly sad news and I'm sure many will miss him for many reasons.
An unmatched wealth of generosity, knowledge, wit, wisdom and imagination gone. This is very sad.
My condolences to his family and his many friends here.
Our world is a little smaller today :(
We've all benefited from his presence on this forum
Thoughts and prayers to the family

Update February 2015:
I am still very ill and since xmas I have bee bed-bound, hardly able to walk and extreme double vision, so I was not able to even read the pc screen, let alone reply to email, so sorry for going incommunicado on you.
I have stopped taking honing and restoration orders for a while, mainly because I never know when illness will drag me down again and make me lose deadlines, like it has before and after the xmas period. I really hate letting people down, so once I catch up I will start taking orders for honing and restoration again.
Thank you all for bearing with me, and especial thanks to my friends over the water at the Straight Razor Place (SRP) forum and most especially of all my dear sweet wife - I would not be here now if it was not for here, thanks Kim!

Shocked to see this when I logged on today. The knowledge that he has spread through this community is unfathomable. His talents with leather, knowledge, and being a gentleman will surely be missed by everyone here. Thoughts and prayers to his family. Rest in piece Mr. Miller.
A definate treasure has been lost, that will missed by so many,
and so many more who don't know of him yet.
May your leather be taught, your lather slick, your blades sharp, and shaves smooth.
For his Family:
Our deepest condolences,
These Words may offer you little comfort in this time of lose,
But know that our hearts and prayers are with you to try help share the burden of grief upon your souls.
God Bless
Oh no, this is terribly sadness I can't describe. This is so sudden. it could happen to any of us which is why I have no animosity for anyone here. I didn't know until very recent moments! He was such a great contribution to the forum & very knowledgable! He will be deeply missed by us all. He was a good friend, a true gentleman, scholar & much more. The tears won't stop...................
My condolences to his family. You're in Gods hands now because you have entered the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven.
I don't know what else to say except RIP Neil...........
Sad news indeed, condolences to friends and family.
Neil's references to Monty Python gags and razor sharp wit always made it a pleasure to read his posts, not to mention his wealth of knowledge. RIP
Rest in peace Neil, you will be missed.
he was a good man, and very helpfull, may he rest in Peace !!!!!!
"What is this I hear of sorrow and mourn?
Before a good life can be lived;
an end must be born.
While with you we enjoyed,
an art taught to me.
By men who have gone forward, I will now get to meet.
I leave with you my knowledge,
as given to me.
May it pass into the hands of another,
the next generation to be.
To hear the kindness of the words expressed;
a good life was lived,,, Oh yes, yes indeed."
Neil
Rest in peace Neil
Horrible news to our community and a tremendous loss to all he touched with his immense knowledge. Condolences to his friends and family. He will be missed by many.
Rest In Peace Neil Miller
So sad to hear this. You will be missed Neil. RIP mate.
Very sad news indeed. May he always be remembered as a great mentor and just such a patient man. Users and hobbyists alike, from all over the world had a lot to learn from him, myself included. His were probably the first videos I ever saw on honing razors and his writing here was probably among the most useful I have ever read.
Sincere condolences to the family, may he rest in peace.
I will truly miss you Neil, I enjoyed our conversations.
RIP Neil - the world is poorer for your passing
I am so saddened to hear this news of Neil Miller's passing. He was this forum's Answer Man and was the source of all Sheffield Knowledge. He commented on many of my posts and answered many of my questions. It was a pleasure to read his candid and truithful responses. We will all miss him dearly. Prayers to his family and close friends.
That's horrible news. Neil was definitely on of the good guys. His enthusiasm for straight razor history was infectious. A sad day indeed.
Farewell Neil, its sad to hear your gone.
But we will all reach the end of our journey some day. Then we start anew.
Mike
Only in the last two years have I learned of a person like Neil, who had accumulated so much knowledge about what many consider an arcane subject. Once I read a few of his posts, I realized how much there was to be learned from him, and how blessed I was to be able to be a long-distance student of his.
In addition to his knowledge and craftsmanship as an artisan in his own right (which I only got to experience through the raves of his fans), he had a dry wit that made me smile to myself when reading many of his posts. When I would read someone write< "Let's see what Neil Miller has to say about this" i'd check back more frequently to see what gems of wisdom and wit he'd drop on us.
Rest in peace now, sir, though I barely knew you, I will miss you.
Prayers for his family, who surely miss him more than I.
Prayers sent to his family and friends.
This is sad news indeed, my prayers are with his wife and family!!
Very sad. My condolences to his family
This was the worst news I've had all week. I will miss his posts and his knowledge.
My prayers go out to his family and may he rest in peace.
