Thanked: 25We lost a member, and I, a close friend
Jerry Sell, mrsell63, has passed.
I watched as this day approached and had a sadness build.
And now he is gone.
Jerry had been honing for 35 years; a master.
He read my whining on this forum, over honing a few years ago, and reached out to help me.
We lived within 20 minutes of each other.
Many days were spent in my shop to bring me up to speed, and to a point I now can
produce an edge.
He was a veteran, I believe serving on a carrier.
We lost a good and knowledgeable friend.

Sad news, but thanks for the heads up. Jerry and I had been in touch through email before, and since he became ill. He was a great guy and a fine member of SRP. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The loss of our friend Jerry Sell
I'm sorry to report to our friends that Jerry Sell (mrsell63) has passed. He had been diagnosed with cancer approximately one year ago and will be laid to rest this coming Monday.
I decided to post this news here under the stropping section because he would often pride himself on his stropping ability. He could strop with the best of em and I know that he's helped plenty of us guys here on the topic.
I met Jerry here a few years ago. We quickly learned that we were practically neighbors. He soon became a regular visitor, customer and friend of me and my barbershop. He was generous and super eager to spread his knowledge on straight shaving. The time we spent together honing and stropping gave him a great sense of fulfillment. He loved to sharpen.
Take a second to say a prayer for him and his family. He was a great friend.Last edited by wyobarbershop; 09-28-2016 at 11:52 PM.

Thanked: 4206A loss to the community. Jerry sold me one of my first properly working straights when I was starting out, for a very reasonable price, and was always a class act when I dialogued with home on here. I still have that razor and use it still.

I'm sure the Universe welcomed him with open arms. And a list of razors to be honed properly. My hope is that his family is remembering and rejoicing in the good moments of his life.
