Head Shave 5/8 or 6/8 Razor
Hello All,
I just started shaving my head (3 weeks ago) with my first Str8 a Dovo 6/8 Bismarck full hollow, love the razor. I was wondering would it be easier with a smaller 5/8 full hollow razor or pretty much the same. I'm not having trouble maneuvering the blade, just in the market to start adding to the collection. (I've got my eye on a nice 5/8 full hollow Dovo)Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory lasts forever.

In order to methodically evaluate the effects of different sizes on a head shave, I would think that a variety of sizes would be essential.
Ha....try to defeat THAT logic!!Last night, I shot an elephant in my pajamas..........

It's probably going to boil down to personal preference. In no way am I speaking from experience but I would think the 5/8 or 6/8 would be the way to go. I couldn't imagine using a larger and heavier blade on my head (partly because I don't grow any on my head to shave!), and potential razor burn on the head!

But I agree with jfleming, I think purchasing another razor is a cavalier idea!

Thanked: 1587Size and grind don't make any difference on your head, just as they don't make any difference on your face (other things being equal).
These things are simply personal choice. What matters is shaving technique. Some people find larger razors a bit unwieldy which can have an impact on technique (and similarly with really small razors), but apart from that it is how you use it, no its shape or size, that counts.

Not a head shaver, most of it gone naturally. But ran across this at Grooming Lounge | Men's Skin Care, Shaving Products, Spa Services & Advice. A HeadBlade Sport Razor for anyone interested.

Thanked: 1195The main FUNCTIONAL reason for larger width razors is the lather scooping ability - being able to hold more lather before rinsing/wiping. Using that logic a larger razor would seem more fitting for your purpose.
But as a disclaimer I'm not a headshaver and have never done it...
