I still use a de to clean up the back, can't figure out a good way to do it yet with a straight, I'm shaving by feel don't won't to use a mirror anyone have any tips or idea how long it will take to learn to shave the back of the head.
I'm thinking YouTube, might be your best resource. I think Jimbo said he has a video

You mean to say that you don't have a lifetime supply of DE blades in the house already? Sorry but I couldn't resist that. Good luck

I'm sorry to hear about the arthritis Fatnash. I can see how if you were shaving all of your hair you would benifit from not looking, just feel the razor's edge. In my case, I can't afford to lose any more than I already have so I use a mirror. I tried shaving my head once. It lasted a month when my daughters came to me announcing, "We miss the fuzz around the sides Dad". I do miss combing what use to be my big ole bushy head of hair....and the lady's fingers running through it of course. Such is life.

    Regards

Wow. Here I am all concerned about just straight shaving my chin and jawline, and y'all are shaving your entire heads.

Amazing, aint it. It won't take long and you will be just as confident. Simply pay attention to what you are doing. It only gets better with experience.

Yes, youtube has a few head shave videos. Mine is there too, but I'm not sure how useful it is in terms of "tutorial" material to be honest. In any event, here's a couple that might be worth a look (mine's the last one, included because I am an incorrigible egotist! )

I've recently (about a month ago) started straight shaving. I agree that YouTube is a great source of learning both face and head shaving. I studied the videos for a few weeks, ordered my straight and on the first attempt I shaved my entire head and face. The only small cut I had was actually on my cheek. I attribute this success to studying the YouTube videos and being extremely careful with the blade. In fairness I must admit that I've been shaving my head with a cartridge razor for nearly 15 years, so I know the shape of my head very well.

All this to say, study the videos and when you're confident go for it. Be especially careful around the ears. I had gotten bored with the daily cartridge shaving routine and this has really reinvigorated by love for shaving my head. I personally like to shave my head after taking a shower at night before bed. I find it really relaxes me and helps me unwind. Have fun.
