Default Shaved the entire head with the straight.

Im rather proud of myself tonight. I had another successful face shave with my straight, but i also was able to do my entire head as well. Ive been shaving my head for years, now i can do it with the straight with no problems. I didn't even need a mirror in the back to see what i was doing. Just take your time and go by touch.

I'd love to do this... How do you guys do it? My hair is about 1/4 inch long. Do you clipper it down and then shave? Or do you just lather up your hair and go at it? Is there any basic order to do it? Top, sides, back, etc.

    Thank you,
    --Shoki

    Talking It's just mild OCD......

I shave my head, face, neck, shoulders and even underarms(not every session though, and yes I am kinda fuzzy but not a Yeti). With the head I sometimes use a small mirror for the back, but I don't feel like I'm cheating.I just do what I need to do,to do it right and life goes on.I suppose if I could shave my whole body ,I would as this straight shaving gets compulsive with every successful shave ha ha.

    Congrats!

Shoki: before I first shaved my head with a straight I took clippers to it set to 0. Afterward I just shaved every other day or two and didn't have any issues.

I use a DE for my head shaves now, though.

What DE do you use? I would guess an open comb would be best. Also what do you gentlemen think of the Dovo Head Shaver?

    Thank you,

I shave my head and my face whit a straight. First i wash my head with Hot water then Lather and shave.
Both WTG and ATG, I only use a mirror to my face becaurse I have a goatee. Well and whant to keep that tidy and clean.
Suc6 and enjoy the smooth feeling on your head shaving.

You know it Bill, ive come a long way in little time i feel.

Im not doing this atg, but thats ok. Ive been finding that as my skill increases i get an atg smoothness on my face when only going wtg.

Not clippers here, i maybe shave the head every other day or three, so its not so long that it causes an issue.

The beautiful thing about straight razors is that it's impossible for them to clog. You can shave hair of any length with no trouble from the razor.
If you have long hair and wanted to shave, clipping might make it easier to see what you're doing as well as to get soap down to the scalp.

For just routine shaves clipping is absolutely not needed. Sometimes I'll go for a week without a head shave. When I finally get around to it, I just lather up and shave, no clipping required.

As to the DOVO headshaver, I've never used that particular device, but something similar. I think it's unnecessary. If you want a cartridge razor shave, any cartridge razor will work fine.
