    Default Crazy Bald Heads!!!!

Just wondering if there's any follicley challenged guys out there that shave their head with a straight? I got into this obsession with that intention in mind but found the back of the head to be a bit unnerving. Nothing like pulling a hail mary up the back of your noggin'....

There are a few members that do.

The best advice I can give you is to be willing to touch up with a safety razor (or even *gasp* a cartridge razor) until you learn the angles, and get a feel for it.

I've been shaving my head with a straight for over a year, and there are still days that I go to a safety razor to finish.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

I shave my with with a straight.
The head gets shaved every single day, and I use either a straight, a DE or a Feather artist club.
The one that feels safest and yields the best result is actually the straight.
No irritation, zits, ingrowns or burn.
I use the other two alternatives occacionaly 'cause a full head of hair is quite hard on a straights edge.

I started out with a 2 mirror solution to get the back of the head, but after a while I found that doing it blindly by feel was the easiest and best.
one hand stretches and feels for the location to shave, the other handles the straight.

Try it out, it's easier than it looks

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I also shave my head with a str8, I would start with just the top of your head if I were you.(Make The Same motion as you comb your hair, from front to back) Like this> Video

If you shave that part without a cut, then the sides and back of your head.
But watch out for your ears!
If your head is shaved WTG without having cuts, only then think of ATG.
And then you have a shiny BBS head and the girls are crazy about it .

I shave my head with a str8 sometimes. Though It is much easier with a d/e. I use a str8 for the challenge.

I use a straight here. Learning to do my head came a lot quicker than face. Granted I started doing my head about 6-7 years after learning to straight shave my face, technique could have had something to do with it. I find that heavier blades tend to be easier for me on my head. I think having a larger mass makes for knowing where every point is, especially when you get to the back of the head where you can't see.

Unless you have a VERY dry scalp, do not use pre shave oil. I also only do a single ATG pass (may irritate some, but never has for me) The rest of my head shave is a direct mirror of my face routine.

Soak head in ice cold towel
    Lather
Shave ATG (with discretion to yourself)
    Cold water rinse
    Alum
    Cold water rinse
    Witch hazel
Osage Rub (best feeling ever on a headshave)
    Skinfood

You'll find that a lot of head shavers (straight/DE/cartridge) often do a full cold shave. Being that the hair is a lot softer than whiskers the cold tightens up the scalp and makes the hairs stand upright allowing for an easier shave.

Another straight head shaver. Many good points above. Yes, at first you won't trust yourself, use two mirrors. About the only time I look now is if I nick that stupid mole on the back of my head.

For me, shorter strokes, due to denser folical concentration on my melon vs my mug.

Xtg rear of the head, right hemisphere, razor right hand, place blade center line and rotate my head, with minimal hand movement. Vice versa left side left hand. Xtg back there is a little awkward holding the razor, so for me, it feels like more control where the blade goes moving the head instead of waving the blade around.

Hardest reach is right behind the ears, at edged of the crease behind the neck. That will just take time to be comfortable with blade position. Likely where you'll cheat with the DE until you get the technique down in that area.

Even if you've been straight shaving a while, you'll likely feel like a beginer all over again, lol. Not a bad thing, you'll get to live that same anticipation all over again.

    Have a blast
