Default SOLD: Large Escher in box, 10"

A large and rare Escher hone. It is the 50mm x 250mm size (about 2"x10" - see the image with the measuring tape).
Comes with the original box, however, the sides on the bottom are missing, Of course, it has the labels on the hone in german and on the box lid in english - it's the barbershop image version.
There is no side label, but the color is dark, either dark blue or blue green. It's an exceptional finisher, plus it's rare and highly collectable.
Also I have not sealed the labels in any way. I know some people do things like this, personally I do not buy into it and will never buy a hone with sealed labels. I am simply careful when honing. It's a finisher hone and as far as I am concerned there is absolutely no reason for water to be spilling over the edges and getting into the label. But that is me, I like things in as unadulterated state as reasonably possible.

One end on the side with the label has 'grooves' cut into it. People have said that this is not an unusual thing to do in certain circles of users (I think some type of machinists). I have no clue about this, I only hone my razors and have no use for these things but they're part of the hone's history.

I've honed few hundred razors on it over the past 9 years, but nowadays I usually pick a 7" Escher just because I keep that one more accessible in the bathroom. It should have on the order of at least 10,000 years of heavy use in my estimate.

I am trying something new, seeing if I can part with some of my most prized items that I love but don't really use.

$700 includes insured shipping in US, internationally will be a little more and I can figure it out if necessary, or check usps.com

They are well respected hones. The price, in my opinion, is very fair. I tend to use the darker hones most often though I have the lighter ones also.

I have several Eschers and always have wanted a long one like that. Given the dramatic increase in price that correlates with greater size in hones like this, I agree that this is a very reasonable price.

You could saw the grooved end off and have a slurry stone that does not suck itself to the big hone when raising a slurry.
